For this 1981 release, Edge and Creed brought in brothers John and Hilary Stench on drums and bass. This new rhythm section can definitely be heard, making Chrome a bit more danceable and the first inklings of that driving industrial metal beat are audible. The "live instrumental track" included here was recorded in Italy in 1981. Includes CD of the album. Buy record at ( LP+CD 17.50 EUR) Greatest Hits Mailorder (D) change

Comparing them to everyone from Pere Ubu, to the Residents, to Devo, Can, Eno, the reality was that no one knew really knew where they fit in. For Chrome aficionados this album is more ambient and droning than previous albums, except for the Devo-esque "Electric Chair"- and one wonders if they didn't write this song to poke fun at the band. Features three bonus tracks. Included is a CD of the album. Buy record at ( LP+CD currently not in stock ) Greatest Hits Mailorder (D) change

This 1979 release by San Francisco acid/space-rock band was an angular and metallic sounding album interspersed with electric violin, apocalyptic tape loops, moog, atonal droning distorted guitar and a wall of metallic sounding percussion. Features three bonus tracks, which originally appeared on the "Subterranean Modern" compilation, released in 1979 on Ralph Records. Included is a CD of the album. This release from 1978 was the 2nd album by sci-fi obsessed San Francisco experimental rock band, formed in 1977 by Damon Edge. A combination of punk rock aesthetic, with Iggy-esque vocals, jangly guitar, primitive electronics, tape manipulation and sampling. Often credited as being the precursors to the industrial metal sound, the band are also akin to experimental punk/noise bands like Pere Ubu and Suicide. Includes CD of the album. Early - with a more 60's sound, and actual singing. Very great album! It's epic, and unlike any other Chrome album. I guess some people consider like early Bowie - not to be taken quite as seriously, but this album rocks VERY heavily, and is one of my faves along with 1/2 machine lip moves. john p
